Advises on contentious and non-contentious shipping, transport and marine insurance matters
Christian advises on both contentious and non-contentious matters relating to the shipping and transport sector. His legal practice comprises of all aspects of shipping and transport law, in particular dry shipping, marine insurance, cargo claims and inland shipping. Christian advises on both domestic and international matters, including cross-jurisdictional matters with international and foreign law elements.
He advises ship owners, P&I clubs, operators, cargo interests as well as hull, war risk and cargo underwriters on the full range of shipping, transport and marine insurance matters. Christian has experience in supporting large scale litigation and arbitration proceedings and regularly assists with complex disputes arising under charterparties, contracts of carriage, bills of lading and marine insurance contracts. Christian combines legal expertise with a practical and commercial understanding of the maritime and transport sector and its stakeholders. With an education background and qualifications in German and English law, Christian frequently represents and works with clients in matters spanning multiple jurisdictions.

- Assisting with advice to war risk underwriters in relation to various large-scale cover disputes.
- Advising inland shipping carriers regarding third-party liability, including cargo claims and vessel damage, as well as recourse options.
- Advising cargo interests and underwriters on recovery for cargo loss and damage against various carriers across all transport modes.
- Advising on liability and apportionment issues under a charterparty subject to German law and incorporating the Inter Club Agreement.
