From our Hamburg office, we advise on both German and English law. Our clients include national and international banks, credit funds, financial institutions, sponsors, investors and corporates. A particular focus is asset finance, especially ship finance. We assist with complex cross-border transactions, including bilateral and syndicated facilities under Loan Market Association (LMA) standards, registration of mortgages, and creation of other security interests. We also advise on financings supported by export credit agencies (ECA) and on national and international leasing transactions such as Chinese leases, JOLCOs, and sale-and-leaseback financings.

Beyond asset finance, we advise on project finance, particularly in energy and infrastructure, corporate finance and acquisition finance, as well as refinancing transactions, working capital facilities and a broad range of secured and unsecured lending structures. Our team supports clients throughout the lifecycle of a financing, from structuring and documentation to amendments, waivers, restructurings and enforcement.

Our team is highly experienced in distressed finance situations, including complex restructurings, platform solutions, and insolvencies. We have advised banks and private equity funds on large-scale loan portfolio transfers. We also have significant experience with arrests, mortgage enforcements, and litigation related to finance transactions. In the regulatory field, we advise international lenders on banking licence requirements and related issues.
