She represents shipowners, operators and insurers in arbitration and court proceedings and advises on contractual and regulatory issues.
Hannah is a senior associate in the English law team. Her practice covers both contentious and non-contentious matters in the fields of commercial shipping, yachts, marine insurance, and energy. Bilingual in German and English, Hannah can advise clients in both languages.
On the contentious side, Hannah regularly acts for shipowners, operators, and insurers in disputes arising under charterparties, sale and purchase agreements, bills of lading, and insurance contracts. She has extensive experience representing clients in London maritime arbitration and in proceedings before the English courts.
On the transactional and advisory side, Hannah advises on the drafting and negotiation of charterparties, contracts of affreightment, ship management agreements, and vessel reservation agreements. She also advises on ship sale and purchase transactions and ship finance matters. Furthermore, Hannah advises on regulatory issues in connection with sustainable shipping such as FuelEU and EU ETS.
Areas of Practice
Experience
- Charterparties – advising owners and charterers in relation to wide range of issues under bareboat, time and voyage charters including unseaworthiness, off-hire, bunker quality, redelivery and demurrage disputes.
- Energy – negotiating vessel reservation agreements, charters, and services contracts in the offshore wind sector.
- Yachts and Superyachts – representing charterers in relation to liquidated damage claim for wrongful termination of charter under MYBA Form.
- Marine – advising on ship arrests and steps to obtain the judicial sale of a vessel, including drafting appropriate security for release of a vessel.
- Ship Sale and Purchase – Acting for both buyers and sellers of second-hand commercial vessels, including negotiating contractual documentation, liaising with flag states and other authorities, preparing delivery documentation, and managing the closing process.
- Shipbuilding – Advising buyers of newbuild vessels on shipbuilding contracts and related financing arrangements.
