Onno advises on a broad range of civil and commercial disputes, with a focus on insurance, transport and shipping, as well as complex liability matters. He acts in commercial and civil dispute resolution matters before German courts, representing clients in contract and liability disputes across a wide range of business lines. His practice includes complex civil litigation proceedings as well as enforcement actions, including the securing and enforcement of claims in contentious commercial contexts.
A significant part of Onno’s practice focuses on insurance law. He advises and represents national and international insurers, insureds and other market participants across various insurance sectors, particularly in transport, property and liability insurance. His work has a strong emphasis on marine insurance, including hull and yacht policies as well as maritime liability insurance, and typically involves complex coverage litigation, liability defence, recourse claims and regulatory or supervisory issues.
In addition, Onno is engaged in matters across the maritime and land-based transport sector, advising on disputes arising out of national and international carriage, logistics failures and liability frameworks throughout the transport chain. His experience also includes shipbuilding and warranty claims as well as ship arrest proceedings in cross-border contexts.
