Carina Freiin von Berlepsch advises on contentious and non-contentious matters within the maritime sector.
Carina advises both domestically and internationally on contentious and non-contentious matters within the maritime sector, including commercial litigation and arbitration. Her legal practice comprises all areas of maritime shipping law specialist expertise in handling maritime casualties and related H&M and P&I claims. She advises on blue and brown water shipping, wet and dry shipping as well as charter parties, management agreements, service contracts and insolvencies. She also assists with corporate housekeeping throughout the lifecycle of a company, ranging from its foundation to its liquidation. Furthermore, Carina advises on regulatory issues in connection with sustainable shipping (e.g. EU ETS, FuelEU). She grew up in the shipping industry and therefore has an excellent insight on the industry apart from her legal profession and expertise.
Carina is dual-qualified in German law (Rechtsanwältin) and English law (Solicitor)

- Advising on various collisions, allision and groundings of inland water ships including dealing with the authorities, the casualty investigation, civil and criminal law proceedings.
- Advising a cruise ship company following the cancellation of a cruise including handling passenger claims.
- Advising on personal injury claims, especially in ports and on board of ships.
- Advising on H&M and P&I cover disputes.
- Advising clients on outstanding payments under service contracts.
- Advising a large-scale service provider within the maritime sector on insolvency contestation claims following a ship yard’s insolvency.
- Advising a shipping company on corporate matters including questions regarding the articles of association and shareholder’s decisions as well as sanctions.
- Advising shipping companies and managers on EU ETS and FuelEU clauses for management agreements and charter parties.
